Writing for me is very tiring, it wears me down mentally and usually takes me a while. My problem would be that I write in a way that I'm just trying to get the point across. I don't like to fill my papers with smoke and "jibber jabber" and yet I still have to. I write in a way that I get the point or purpose of what ever I'm writing across right at the start then I have nothing else to say. Having this type of writing style makes it really hard to write long papers and meet certain requirements that professors or schools put on them. The reason it's so tiring is that I have to sit and find a way to make the paper longer and more interesting so that I do not lose the reader. Me being the perfectionist that I am doesn't help the situation at all! I write a line and then erase it because I don't like the way it sounds. I rather speak about a subject than write about it because I feel the words flow more naturally from my mouth than they do when I try to write them down and get them to flow.
So... having to compare my writing to something, I think I would say a search engine, straight to the point and what you see is what you get. When you want to know something or find something out you go to your preferred search engine type in what you want to know or find out and BAM! You've got the information you're looking for but, sometimes you've gotta trek through tons of unreliable sites to find the right one for the right information that's reliable and will stand up in a follow up. My writings are like those unreliable sources until I painstakingly form them into something that people want to hear. Something people will continue to read and maybe listen to or use. I'm always worried about the negative aspects of my writing that I often catch myself reading something over and over making sure it's going to be right and still it doesn't always make for good writing. Being the type of writer I am makes for accurate but sometimes boring papers, like the search engine and research is boring. If I could change my writing I would want to change in a way that my papers are more like videos, if you're not interested in the topic then there is still something interesting to look at and learn from if the words are quite reaching your ears.
In the end I get straight to the point . . kind of like a bullet from a
gun, the writing being the gun and my straight to the point approach
being the bullet. . . even though the gun is swaying once the trigger is
pulled my bullet is straight as an arrow and right on point.

Feast Or Famine
In this essay I will be arguing the large scale negative affects on the planet caused by agriculture. I'm not really sure if it will really be argumentative or informative. I'm going to be putting the facts out that everyone needs to know. Facts that most people don't know or don't care to know, I suppose I'll be arguing that people should know and care about these negative impacts agriculture is having. My arguments will cover many areas to include: deforestation, land clearing, water use, pollution, biodiversity loss, and depletion of natural resources. I believe that people today have no idea what really goes into growing or raising food, or what impacts it really has. Here's a little fun fact for you, did you know that over 40% of earths land is used for agriculture? That's more than we use for cities and all the places we live. Just try and soak that up and put it into context. Imagine it. My main focus in this essay is going to be educating and arguing that people should know these facts and be more involved in the bettering the situation.
I still need to do more research and get all the facts on all my arguments but so far I have a lot of information to put into this and I will continue to expand. This looks like it's going to be a pretty good essay. I think we will all learn a lot and have fun experiencing the sides and situations of all our classmates.

Does this get your attention? (video Post)
The author of my article(Jonathan Foley) actually helped make this video. Foley is the presidential chair of the department of ecology at McKnight and director of the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota. I like this video because it really makes you think, puts things into perspective. I hope you enjoy and learn something from it.

The other inconvenient truth (summary)
My
summery consist of information obtained through multiple sources to include ted
talks, common knowledge, and known facts.
How do we feed a population growing by several billion
people a year without destroying the planet?
Feast or famine?
These are the questions we must face in our generation. No
one has a “simple” answer to this, because it is not a simple matter.
Agriculture is the leading cause of climate change on our planet today, 30% to
be exact. That’s more than emissions from ALL electricity and industry, more
than all the planes, trains, and automobiles. So when you hear about global
warming on the news don’t automatically assume it’s from oil or your car. Go
and open your fridge or your pantry and the answer will be there. People don’t
really think about how much damage it’s had on our planet. Think about how much
water has to go into the food you eat. We use enough water on crops every year
to fill 7,305 empire state buildings every day! That’s our lakes drying up or
our rivers reduced to flows. Here’s a little fun fact for you, did you know
that the Colorado River doesn’t connect to the ocean anymore? Yeah that’s
right! Oh and don’t forget the Aral Sea which is now a desert. So far we’ve
cleared 40% of earths land for agriculture. These facts are pretty staggering. My
point is; evidence that agriculture is destroying the planet is pretty evident,
just take a look around and you’re sure to catch a glimpse of it.

Summary, Analysis, Response Essay
Hello everyone!
I’ve chosen to write this essay on the demand for food. Yes
that’s right FOOD! The reason I chose this topic is because it’s relation to
agriculture. The demand for food has become the leading cause of climate change,
biodiversity loss or extinction and environmental destruction. For those of you who don’t know what
biodiversity loss is; it’s the endangerment or complete extinction of a natural
or native species in an area. This topic is in relation to another problem we
face in the world today and that’s population growth; population growth drives
agriculture. I chose this topic because it’s a HUGE issue facing the world now
and our future generations. I know a few
things about this topic, just from my own dabbling and research. One thing
being that we’re drying up rivers, lakes, and freshwater seas just so we can
grow all the food needed for the people on this planet. So if these sources are
drying up and disappearing, where do you think you’re next bottle of water’s
going to come from? Food for thought
.
This topic really intrigues me. I’m one of those people that
are full of random information, and I like to watch documentaries and shows I
can learn from. I feel that I’m that
type of person for a reason. I feel that
if I have this knowledge I can spread the facts to people who otherwise might
be oblivious. I hope to learn as much as possible from this essay and research
so that I can inform people here and there on what we’re doing to the ONLY
planet we have to live on. I hope that I’ll be able to educate them on the
subjects in hopes that they’ll make better choices or chose to get involved in
formulation a solution to the problem.
I don’t know about you, but I for one worry about the future
of everyone and especially the planet. After all it’s the only one you’ve got!

First blog! A little intro
So my name is Wayne Amedure II but I prefer to go by Matthew my middle name. This is my first time attending college and it's proving to be a challenge. Maybe after spending so much time out of school I shouldn't have just jumped right back in full time huh? It has its ups and downs but over all I'm glad to be back at it.
Anyways, a little about me. I'm originally from Pontiac but I grew up in Fenton. I spent four years in the Army as an infantry team leader, and spent fourteen months in Iraq. In my spare time I like going to the movies, spending time outdoors, motorcycles, and most importantly having fun. I love to travel and have been to more countries than most people I know. I look forward to getting back in the swing out things and I'll see you all in class.
